Keeping your account secure

A short checklist to protect your Salad account and the Salad Balance in it.

Your Salad account holds Salad Balance that can be redeemed instantly, which makes it a target. Treat it like a small bank account. These steps cover essential measures to secure your account:

  • Use a unique, long password for your email account. Whoever controls your email can log in to Salad. A password manager makes unique passwords painless.
  • Add a passkey to your Salad account. A passkey replaces one-time login codes, can protect redemptions, and cannot be phished. See Salad app passkeys.
  • Store your passkey backup codes off the PC. Keep them in a password manager or external media - not only on the machine that runs Salad. If you lose both the passkey and the codes, support cannot remove the passkey and the account has to be deleted.
  • Never share a login code. Salad will never ask for your one-time code, not even Salad Support. Only enter it on salad.com or in the Salad app. Delete codes you did not request - see I've received a suspicious login attempt.
  • Download Salad only from salad.com or our GitHub. Installers from anywhere else may be modified.
  • Do not give other people access to your email account or leave it logged in on shared PCs.

If you think someone already has access to your account, contact Salad Support straight away.

Can I deposit or withdraw cryptocurrency to my Salad account?

No - your Salad account is not a cryptocurrency wallet. Balance is spent in the Storefront, not withdrawn.

I've received a suspicious login attempt

A one-time login code you did not request means someone typed your email address. Ignore it and add a passkey.
