Is Salad legit, or is it a scam?
Salad is a real company that rents out Chefs' idle GPUs to cloud customers. How to verify that for yourself.
Salad is legit. Salad Technologies runs SaladCloud, a distributed cloud that rents the idle GPUs of Chefs like you to companies running compute workloads requiring GPU, CPU, or bandwidth. Those customers pay Salad; Salad pays you in Salad Balance, which you redeem in the Storefront. When no customer job is available, your PC falls back to mining as a backup workload.
Salad does not sell your data and has nothing to gain from scamming you: the business only works if Chefs keep their PCs on the network. See What is Salad's business model? for the details, and What's the catch? for the limitations we would rather you knew up front.
